First recorded: 7-14-95 The Future of a Man By Clay Busker I look into the future, and what do I see? Two paths that have been chosen for me. I see one path filled with hardship and pain What have I to gain? I see the other path, filled with pleasures and life What? I see no strife. But which path is true? Which earns life, which death? Who has gone before? They know much more. My friend chose the second. He came back- -and spat at me. Why? Why has he turned from me? My friend, my friend, have I forsaken thee? He simply turns and says, "You are no longer with me" "Go away, or you will never see another day" My enemy comes back, gives me a pat on the back He says, "Come with me, my friend, I will help you to the end" I see the fork. I see a lot of work. Do I choose the path of my friend, which seems to be a dead end? Or do I risk my life deserting what's nice? Does the path of strife turn into fellowship and life? Does the path of life fall like a knife? I stand at a fork. Time to start walking.
